Workshop
Learning the base body work of Cuban Cha-Cha-Cha will improve your technique in any Cuban dance. Besides that, traditional Cuban Cha-Cha-Ca is soft and beautiful with small body movements which will soften your dancing and make you a lot more toned. And who doesn’t want to get up and dance Cha-Cha-Cha when the music is on? The workshop will focus on foot work combined with body motion to make you dance with your whole body. The techniques are taken from programs taught to professionals in the National School of Art in Havana. Once you will gain the control, you will be able to apply it to the various Cha-Cha-Cha steps. It will give you that extra something that others lack on the dance floor. Everyone can dance fast but not everyone can slow down and express sentiment through their body!
In this workshop you will work on core body movements coming from the various Cuban dances such as Reggaeton, Rumba, Cha Cha Cha, Mambo and Salsa. These are exercises used to train professional dancers in the National School of Art in Havana. Professional Cuban dancers dance with their whole body, not just their feet. The control over their lower and upper body with subtle motion is what gives them the freedom to be self expressed. The core body movements make it easier for you to control different body parts and to perform complex moves with ease, which make you look and feel good. It allows you to focus on the core without having to worry about dance moves, steps, leading or following. The workshop is a constant flow from one type of movement to the other and is set up like a workout class. We start with simple movements and work our way to more complex ones.

The Rumba is an Afro-Cuban folkloric dance encompassing a variety of historical dance forms from Cuba. The sugar cane plantations in Havanna and Mantanzas were the main centers of the evolution of the Rumba, and it quickly became popular in bars and taverns the early decades of the twentieth century. The songs often speak about the daily lives of people of color and the working class. Based on African tradition, the characteristic features of this open partner dance are the pelvic, shoulder and hip movement and, most importantly, the sensual and playful exchange between partners. The workshop will focus on these basic elements of Rumba, and how to incorporate the Cuban flavor into the language of your body expression allowing you to create your own style of seduction with or without your partner. I'm looking forward to having a lot of fun on the dance floor and sharing my passion for RUMBA CUBANA!
